TRACEABILITY GRANTS PROGRAM - ROUND 2
The Australian Government has opened round 2 of the Traceability Grants Program. This program enables successful applicants to conduct projects that will enhance supply chain traceability systems and arrangements that support our agricultural commodities.

BUSHFIRE LOCAL ECONOMIC RECOVERY FUND
The Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund will provide $250 million of funding to support the social and economic recovery of communities affected by bushfire in 47 regional NSW Local Government Areas. It will support projects that retain & create new jobs in regional areas, build resilience and increase preparedness for future bushfire seasons.
Funding is available in the following three categories:

NSW NORTH COAST HORTICULTURAL GRANTS
NSW DPI are managing a project to keep nutrients & sediment out of waterways. They are offering grants of up to $10,000 to those in the horticulture industry on the NSW north coast to fund on-farm infrastructure. If you know of anyone in your catchment that could benefit from this grant, please forward this information on.

BUSHFIRE RELIEF
There are a range of grants, subsidies and loans available through the Rural Assistance Authority. For the latest information, please check out their website here. There is also an interactive map which identifies financial assistance available within your LGA.
To navigate the confusion of grants, farmers may benefit from talking with the Rural Financial Councelling Service - who can provide free & confidential advice to help you make the right decision for your business. Some of the grants & loans available include:

SEAFOOD INNOVATION FUND
The Seafood Innovation Fund is available to commercial fishers and aquaculture farmers in NSW to meet the cost of carrying out permanent capital works that will; improve assets and infrastructure, identify and address risks, help build resilience to changes in seasonal conditions and ensure long term productivity and sustainable use of the marine and land-based environment.
The fund is available in the form of low interest rate loans. The Seafood Innovation Fund will assist investment into four key areas:

NSW COASTAL & ESTUARY GRANTS PROGRAM
These grants support local government in managing the risks from coastal hazards, such as coastal erosion, restoring degraded coastal habitats or improving the health of NSW estuaries, wetlands and littoral rainforests.

INNOVATIONS CONNECTIONS PROJECT
Provides small and medium sized businesses with access to expert technology advice to address technology and knowledge gaps, and collaborate with the research sector in developing new ideas with commercial potential. Support includes up to $50,000 in matched funding to work on collaborative projects.

NATIONAL SEAFOOD INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
The National Seafood Industry Leadership Program (NSILP) is the only national seafood industry specific leadership program, and is designed for people wishing to take up leadership roles within the seafood industry. The focus of the program is for participants to develop an understanding of how to impact constructively, resulting in positive outcomes for the seafood industry. Graduates have gone on to apply their skills to a wide range of areas including regional network development, regional and state industry association boards, and reference committees and effective business management.

NUFFIELD SCHOLARSHIP
Nuffield Australia awards scholarships each year to farmers in Australia. The objective is to increase practical farming knowledge and management skills and techniques generally. These scholarships give Australian citizens the opportunity to study farming practices in NZ, Europe, Asia and the AMericas and those countries best suited to the Scholar. They will also promote a closer understanding between farmers in the countries visited. Upon returning to Australia it is expected that scholars will be able to activity spread the knowledge and understanding they have gained among their fellow farmers and others.
Nuffield Farming Scholarships give a unique opportunity to stand back from your day-to-day occupation, and to study a subject of interest to you. You do not need academic qualifications, but you will need to persuade the Selectors that you have the qualities to make the best use of an opportunity that is only given to a few. Farm business skills professional development program
NSW farmers can take subsidised pre-approved courses through the State Government's $45m Farm Business Skills Professional Development Program. Or farmers can apply for other professional development activities. Participants can claim up to 50% up to $5,000 per farmers or $9,000 per business.

women & Leadership development
All women currently employed in the Australian farming and agriculture sector are invited to apply for a limited pool of scholarship funding that has been provisioned for participation in a range of leadership courses. The grants are allocated with the specific intent of providing powerful and effective development opportunities for women within the farming and agriculture industry.

Australian Rural Leadership Program (ARLP)
A $55,000 scholarship is available for someone working in fisheries to undertake the iconic Australian Rural Leadership Program (ARLP) Course 26. Applications close 30th September.
