There are a number of different committees and associations involved with the NSW oyster industry, each with an important role to play. Know who represents your interests on these committees, and the topics being discussed, by following the links below.
NSW shellfish committee
The NSW Shellfish Committee provides advice to the Minister for Primary Industries and the NSW Food Authority on the operation and administration of the NSW Shellfish Program, including local level operation. It includes representatives from the shellfish industry, the Aquaculture Manager from NSW DPI Fisheries, the CEO of the NSW Food Authority and the NSW Shellfish Program Manager.

Nsw farmers association oyster committee (OC)
The NSW Farmers Oyster Committee is an important representative of the industry, engaging with government bodies to explore the significant issues affecting the oyster growers in NSW, including oyster theft, regulation of oyster industry infrastructure, impact of other water users and biosecurity.  The Committee also works together to develop strategies which identify priority issues needing action to help the industry develop and thrive.

The committee is made of primary producers from estuaries up and down the NSW coast.

OYsters australia (oa)
Oysters Australia Limited (OA) is a national body that was formed in 2011 by Australia's community of oyster growers.

The primary purpose of OA is to manage a program of research, development, and extension for the benefit of the Australian oyster industry. This involves defining the needs of industry, identifying suitable entities to conduct the research, monitoring progress, and ensuring the results are implemented in a manner that benefits the end users.

Oysters Australia also has a representative responsibility to address issues affecting the whole oyster industry.

Seafood industry australia (SIA)
Seafood Industry Australia (SIA) is the national peak-body representing the Australian seafood industry as a whole. With members from the wildcatch, aquaculture and post-harvest sectors of the Australian seafood industry, we are the voice of Australian seafood.

SIA convenes an Aquaculture Advisory Committee (AAC). This absorbed the responsibilities of the former National Aquaculture Council (NAC) and was created to ensure stronger national representation for aquaculture within SIA's broader seafood advocacy work. A representative from Oysters Australia sits on this committee.
